We have the pleasure of working alongside John and Alexis Bilderback on the other side of the lenses.
We popped the boxes open yesterday on all of the new 2010 LF gear. Everything looks amazing; the board graphics turned out sick, the weight and flex is perfect, and the kites are unreal! This is going to be a killer year!
The wind was light for the past two days and not all of the gear had yet arrived. But there was south swell hitting the other side of the island. So we rolled into Honolulu and did some classic Waikiki surfing. The waves were fun but crowded. We all surfed, laughed, and had a great time together.
Yesterday we assembled all of the new 2010 boards and broke out a few kites. The wind was fairly light but Morris and I got out on a 12m Havoc and a longboard catching a few small waves at Backyards, while Petter was the first to ride a new creation in the LF board line for 2010, called the "twin skim". He was ripping around on the flat bottomed, finless, twin tipped, skim board for his first session ever in Hawaii! With the light wind, JB broke out his Hobie 16 and took three of us at a time sailing to get the view of the coastline from the water. We ended the day with an amazing sunset and a great BBQ next to the water at the condo.
Today we start shooting. JB is doing some last minute prep of all of his gear while I write this, and the rest of the crew is getting ready to hit the water in the next few hours. The forecast is looking promising for the remainder of the week and through the weekend. Check back for updates and we may even be able to leak a few pics..... you never know!
Aloha from LF Kiteboarding in Hawaii,
Jason
