With the most recent update from Morocco, Liquid Force Global Team Rider, Manuela Jungo has placed 5th!

The Dakhla stop represented the official start of the 2013 PKRA season. In the freestyle category, 47 men and 11 women competed. In the surf, 18 men and 6 women competed in the 4th edition of the Dahkla PKRA. The conditions were very good throughout the event with 15 -25 knot side-shore conditions every day.

Manuela says
“It was very interesting to follow the competition, because each rider was training hard over the winter and became a contender to win his or her heat.

I was able to finish 4th after the single elimination and I only lost in the half final and the loser final against the former World champions’ Gisela Pulido and Bruna Kajiya.
The Doubles started with good wind and it looked strong but the wind dropped just before or during my heat which got cancelled. This made me very nervous and I switched to longer lines (23cm) to get a bit more power, because I wanted to stay with on my 11 Hifi X. This proved not to be the best decision, because the wind picked up and I was so used to my 20cm lines that I almost crashed every trick. Paula Novotna was riding very good and she deserved to win our heat.

The Level of the women is increasing constantly and it will be a challenge to defend my 5th place in the ranking or to ride under the top 4 . That’s why I am already in Egypt to train and prepare for the next PKRA Event in Leucate, France (April 20-25th)”
