The South African Kitesurfing Association – SAKA was established to promote all aspects of the sport in South Africa. Membership to SAKA helps build the community of kitesurfers in South Africa by keeping the beaches open and safe for kite boarders by liaising with the local council, providing insurance to it’s members and enriching the local community by training up underprivileged children to kiteboard as part of the SAVE project.
The wave division was dominated by Luke McGillewie with Carl Ferreira and Oswald Smith rounding up the series podium.
This year the SAKA events were held at Pili Pili in the Eastern Cape, Witsands, Blouberg and culminating at Shark Bay in Langebaan. The Freestyle Junior and Open Mens were the most hotly contested categories this year with Liquid Force’s Jason van der Spuy going head to head against Aron Rosslee through all 4 events. Jason was the eventual series Champion with another LF rider Dane Lester taking 3rd.
With moves like these it’s no wonder why Jason took home the top spot!
