Sebastian Lang in Tarifa, Spain!

“Last weekend we woke up with a quite low Levante here in Tarifa, Spain so we decided to grab our surf boards and ride some waves. As the first winter swell, everybody was stoked even before we arrived.

Arriving at the beach, the wind was stronger than what we expected and fortunately I brought my Envys.

So I had a perfect first winter swell session with 9m Envy and 6.0 Surf Board.

Next day the wind changed to Poniente and we took a 6m tube to Tarifa’s lagoon. Influence and boots ripped it hard.

Rollei Bullet HD Snowkite Championships

LF Rider Jan Schiegnitz attended the Rollei Bullet Snowkite Championships in Resia.

“At the border triangle in the middle of Europe, which is formed by Switzerland, Austria and Italy, lies the contemplative town of Resia. Resia has made a name for itself as a snowkite destination over the past years, and has been home to the German Snowkite Championships for four consecutive winters now. The spot lived up to its reputation of providing good obstacles, constant wind and great parties once again. We had three days with good conditions. I managed to defend my title as German Champion for the third time. In the overall ranking I’m on the third place.”

La Ventana Clinic with Nuria Goma!

While down in Baja, Nuria Goma joined forces with Jessica Withington to run a kite clinic with the support of Liquid Force. Read up on the action below.

“Yesterday I had the great opportunity to run a clinic with Jessica Withington and the support of Liquid Force, in her school here in Playa Central, she is an amazing professional!

It definitely was a great success as more than 20 persons assisted to it. We mainly wanted to do a free clinic to promote kite board and help those who are already in the sport but wanted to keep evolving.

We basically wanted to encourage intermediate riders to try and go strapless on kite-waves boards and we also talked about water starting, tacks and jives, riding toe side and some transitions and basic jumps.

After the chat it was time to go to the water but only the most advanced kiters decided to give it a try on their 5m, 6m and 7m kites as the wind of more than 35knots made the ride note easy at all. We finally decided to cancel it as we were all overpowered. But it was a totally fun and worth it experience!!

La Ventana Classic

Colleen Carroll reporting from the field of the 2012 La Ventana Classic in Baja, Mexico:

“Thursday- They held the event for four days this year (one more than in years previous) and it was a good thing. 99 kiteboarders and windsurfers (myself, Nate Appel, Adam Withington, and Nuria Goma included) headed to Ceralvo island on Thursday for The Crossing race. This event is an 11 mile downwind race back to the mainland. All the LF riders made it across but none of us took a notable place. My strap actually broke with one minute to the start and I started on the beach as everyone else was crossing the start more than a quarter mile off shore so I got to play the ‘lets see how many people I can pass’ game. Nate did pretty well but I dont know his exact place.

Friday – no wind

Saturday- There was little to no wind so a few of us actually towed in to a slider that some of the local guys made. It has a dragon painted on it and it has a flame thrower that shoots out the back. Awesome. We hit it being towed in by this old janky little boston wailer where the speed would stick so one minute your sinking and the next your flying mach speed at the thing….kinda scary. Then we tried to run some heats for course racing and all but the top racers were able to keep their kites in the sky. The one race where us girls were able to make it across I came in third but other than that I got to practice for swim team tryouts. Haha.

Sunday- We had good wind and were able to run 7 heats of course racing and complete the big air/old school freestyle. I came in third for course racing after Erika Heinekein and Alexis Aguera. For big air/old school freestyle I came in 4th place while riding my boots and unhooking on most tricks…hey, its what I know, right? I guess I tried to throw some big air in there too.”
